Te Tahuia Mā Ngā Whakahaere i Ngā Hapori | Community Organisation Grants Scheme (COGS)

Administered by Department of Internal Affairs (DIA)

This scheme provides grants to non-profit community groups and organisations. It support these groups to deliver community-based social services, projects and events.

Application dates vary. Use the find out more above for application dates.

Grants are one-off contributions for:

  • running or operational costs of organisations that provide community-based social services
  • community development costs, such as hui, training, planning, evaluation and facilitator fees
  • community projects or event costs.

The Local Distribution Committees (LDC) prioritise outcomes for their region based on community discussions. Organisations who request grants need to show how their services or projects will contribute to:

  • encouraging participation in communities
  • promoting community leadership
  • developing community capability
  • promoting social, economic and cultural equity, or
  • reducing the downstream social and economic costs to communities and government.
