Extension Service

Administered by Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI)

Extension Services is a farmer-led, farmer-focused approach to support sustainable land use decisions. It helps communities improve their economic, environmental and wellbeing outcomes.

This fund is open for applications now.

This initiative is about working together to identify and tackle challenges and operate better in this complex environment. MPI is partnering with farmers and regional stakeholders, to ensure services are relevant to local communities. We will also build on existing capability. Often farmers and their networks know what works – we can help do more of this.

A farmer-led approach is the key to this project. It's about:

  • getting involved
  • sharing knowledge with other farmers
  • asking tough questions of one another within trusted circles
  • coming up with practical solutions to issues.
