Creating a business plan

Creating a business plan using a balanced scorecard

A balanced scorecard is one way to do a simple, shareable business plan.

The operations perspective measures the things you need to do well internally to achieve your strategic outcomes.

It should include goals for things like:

  • quality management, like:
    • animal birth and death rates
    • fruit counts
  • compliance requirements, like:
    • creating and documenting specific policies and processes
    • meeting health and safety requirements
    • completing applications to the Māori Land Court
    • applying for resource consent.

Your targets should be specific, with dates or benchmarks so that you can measure your success.

Examples of supporting resources

  • HR policy
  • Health and safety policy.
